What you'll bring

You’ve built and shipped complex systems end-to-end (typically using TypeScript/React + Node/Python or a similar web stack).

You care deeply about correctness, performance, and simplicity. You have strong engineering judgment, backed by a solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, software design patterns, and clean architecture.

Strong focus on code quality, maintainability, and documentation.

You’ll work on problems where correctness, latency, and reliability directly impact real-world outcomes.

Experience with distributed systems / data pipelines, geospatial computation, offline-first / sync models, and performance constraints.

Comfortable with cloud services and databases, and able to own projects from idea to production.

Experience with, or strong motivation to work with, geospatial data/GIS (e.g. PostGIS, tile services, mapping libraries).

Who you are

Proactive, independent, and embraces responsibility.

Motivated to build something meaningful over time, not just have "another job".

Enjoys working in a small, ambitious team where decisions are made close to the product and customers.

Experience with real-time data processing.

About the Role
- Build and ship features frequently – working closely with users who are actually at sea.
- Work with GIS, map layers, routes and data from many sources (AIS, weather, ocean data, catch).
- Handle large data volumes and optimise for unstable and low-bandwidth connections.
- Help turn complex analysis into simple, useful tools for skippers on the bridge.
- You will own critical parts of the system end-to-end — from data ingestion to what the captain sees on the bridge.

Catchwise started with a simple idea:

Internet is coming to the ocean - and we are revolutionising fishery with it

Founded in 2023 after winning the FishAI competition, Catchwise combines AIS, catch history, oceanographic data, and machine learning into one fast, dependable platform.

The goal is straightforward: help vessels fill their quotas with less time and fuel.

We work closely with coastal communities and crews, visiting ports and vessels from Tromsø to Austevoll to Reykjavik to Bilbao. Hundreds of vessels use Catchwise every day at sea. Backed by leading Norwegian and international investors, we are expanding across Denmark, Iceland, the UK, the Faroe Islands — and more.

And we're just getting started.

Build the future
Wild fisheries operate with tight margins, variable conditions, and heavy data flows. Decisions matter every hour at sea.

We build tools that turn complex information into something simple, fast, and trustworthy — directly supporting experienced crews in working efficiently and safely.

Do your best work
We keep the team small and the bar high. Our people are top in their fields, and we expect the same level from everyone.

You'll work alongside sharp colleagues, ship to production quickly, and see your impact immediately. It's a place to learn fast, solve real problems, and take responsibility end to end.
