Who we are looking for
We are looking for an Operations Manager who already understands electrical contracting or manufacturing and can hit the ground running. You will bring strong H&S awareness, confidence working with KPIs and operational systems, and the mindset to take ownership and drive standards. This is a role for someone who thrives in an SME environment where initiative matters, decisions are yours to make, and the impact of what you do is seen immediately across the business.

Important: Sector Experience is Essential This role requires direct, hands-on experience in electrical contracting, M&E services, or a directly comparable technical installation or manufacturing environment. We are unable to consider applications without this background, regardless of broader operations management experience.
Essential Requirements
Proven operational management experience within electrical contracting, M&E services, engineering, or a directly comparable technical installation or manufacturing business — this is a firm requirement.
Demonstrable experience leading mixed teams including site staff, office administration, and stores personnel.
Solid working knowledge of health and safety requirements in a site environment: RAMS, risk assessments, and compliance documentation.
A track record of improving and implementing systems, workflows, or operational processes in a practical environment.
Comfortable with periodic UK-wide travel, including overnight stays.
Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
H&S qualification: IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH General Certificate.
Experience in an SME or owner-managed business where flexibility and initiative are essential.
Familiarity with digital tools including stock management systems, KPIs and Project Planning software, and Office 365.
Additional training in project management, compliance, or operational leadership.

Key Responsibilities
As Operations Manager you will take ownership of the day-to-day running of the business — from office administration through to site operations and supplier relationships. This is a genuinely broad role in a lean, fast-moving SME, and it suits someone who moves comfortably between a desk and a client site visit.
The position requires periodic travel to various customer sites across the UK, which may include overnight stays. This is an integral part of the role and we are looking for someone who embraces that environment.
Leadership & Team Management
• Provide day-to-day leadership across operational teams, creating clarity, accountability, and a strong team culture.
• Build capability across the business through effective communication, coaching, and performance support.
• Work closely with the Managing Director to keep teams aligned with business priorities and operational goals.
Site & Project Operations
• Oversee operational delivery across office and site activities to ensure work progresses efficiently, safely, and to the expected standard.
• Maintain visibility of operational priorities and support effective coordination of people, materials, and timelines.
• Take a proactive approach to resolving issues that could affect delivery, quality, or compliance.
Operational Systems & Process Improvements
• Implement new and strengthen existing systems, processes, and controls that underpin operational performance across the business.
• Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency, and communication.
• Support the effective use of operational tools and processes to improve visibility, control, and decision-making.
Supplier, Contractor & Partner Management
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with external partners, suppliers, and service providers.
• Ensure third-party support contributes positively to operational performance, service standards, and business continuity.
Reporting & Compliance
• Provide clear operational oversight and reporting to support informed decision-making and effective business management.
• Promote a strong culture of compliance, ensuring operational activity is carried out in line with company, legal, and regulatory requirements.
• Support a disciplined and well-organised approach to governance, record-keeping, and continuous operational control.
