Using research, analysis and influence to maximise our contribution to the responsible business and investment agenda.

Who we are

The EIRIS Foundation has spent 40 years driving systemic change in finance, pioneering ethical investment, exposing corporate lobbying, and shaping stewardship decisions across billions in assets. We don’t just report on finance, we shift it.

We’re hiring our first Head of Fundraising to design and deliver a multi-year funding strategy that will scale our impact across mainstream finance. This is a rare opportunity to architect the funding model for an organization respected for its independence, credibility, and influence.

Architect the financial future of an organization shifting Billions.

What You’ll Do
  • Build and execute a 5-year funding strategy from scratch, in partnership with the CEO and Board.

  • Set ambitious income targets and map the funding landscape, identifying where EIRIS has unique advantages.

  • Cultivate and secure funding from trusts, foundations, institutional partners, and philanthropists.

  • Explore new income streams such as consultancy, advisory, or membership models that align with our mission and independence.

  • Translate complex research into compelling funding propositions.

  • Represent EIRIS at industry events, funder forums, and within the ESG and impact funding community.

Build from the Ground Up

The Context
  • Team: Six subject-matter experts led by CEO Peter Webster, covering research, engagement, communications and responsible investment strategies.

  • Board: Eight engaged trustees, including senior leaders with experience of BMO, ICG, Aviva and the Business & Human Rights Centre, and architects of EU sustainability legislation, systemic investing and stewardship strategies.

  • Brand: A 40-year track record, founding role in ethical investment, and respected research partnerships.

  • Flexibility: Open to fractional  (Minimum 3 days per week) or consultancy arrangements for the right candidate.

  • Location: Hybrid, UK-based, with regular in-person meetings for Board, funder cultivation, and team collaboration.

  • Reports to: Peter Webster, CEO.

Shape Our Future Growth

Who You Are
  • A strategic fundraiser with a track record of building diverse income streams in research, advocacy, or policy-driven organizations.

  • Someone with a strong working knowledge of the grant fundraising and funder relationships ecosystem

  • Experienced in funding thought leadership and systemic change, not just service delivery.

  • Skilled at translating complex ideas into clear, compelling cases for support.

Walking the Walk

Why EIRIS Foundation?
  • Intellectual Substance: Work alongside researchers whose analysis shapes Global Guidelines, EU legislation, and investor covenants. Our research can move policy and capital.

  • Genuine Independence: As a charity, we publish findings that challenge corporate lobbying and expose ESG gaps, free from commercial or political influence.

  • Mainstream Impact: Fundraise for work that can shift billions in capital, influencing how pension funds vote, how asset managers assess human rights risks, and how regulators frame disclosure.

  • Board Access: Direct partnership with a CEO and a highly engaged board, committed to your success.

  • Mission Clarity: Every funding relationship you build enables research and advocacy that strengthens accountability and empowers investors to align capital with values.

  • Defining Opportunity: You’ll create the funding architecture that enables EIRIS Foundation to scale its impact for the next decade.

Ready to build the funding model that reshapes mainstream finance?

The Challenge

Mainstream finance manages over $100 trillion globally. EIRIS Foundation exists to shift those decisions through rigorous, independent research, exposing gaps between rhetoric and reality, and equipping investors and policymakers to drive real change. We have influenced EU legislation, shaped billion-dollar stewardship practices, and held the world’s largest companies accountable on human rights, all on project funding and constrained resources.

Now, we need a funding architecture to match our ambition. You will build it.

This role is for someone energized by strategic challenge, comfortable with ambiguity, and ready to create something new at a respected, resource-constrained organization. If you want your fundraising work to directly enable research that shifts capital flows and investment practices at scale, this is your opportunity.

Our offering

The EIRIS Foundation works with investors to build a more just, sustainable financial system that serves all stakeholders' interests, strengthens human rights and labour standards, and ensures responsible investment delivers real change.

The Foundation undertakes independent research, analysis and thought leadership across the investment chain - from asset owners and fund managers to data providers and regulators to identify barriers and opportunities within the financial system. We work with charities, civil society organisations, investors, policymakers and other stakeholders because we believe investment decisions should reflect the values and interests of all stakeholders, and we focus on mainstream finance because change at scale requires shifting both investment practices and capital flows. With over four decades of experience, we pride ourselves on delivering objective information and fostering collaboration to drive meaningful change.
